    Dress Right: Clothing For Yoga

Once an exotic form of exercise to those in Western nations, yoga has caught on as a great, low-impact way to exercise. In Eastern nations, yoga is included as part of the meditation process, with the postures and breathing exercises only given as part of the experience. However, these yoga postures and breathing exercises can bring great health benefits to those looking to increase strength.

One of the things that will be important to your venture into yoga is the clothing that you wear, though. Just as in other exercises, proper clothing for yoga is important to ensure you have your full range of movement. Let's take a look at what proper clothing for yoga consists of:

    Tops

As you might expect, clothing for yoga should be designed to cover your body without restricting it. On top, a simple t-shirt will do, but you don't want it too baggy; should you be performing a yoga pose that has your body inverted, you wouldn't want your shirt to fall! Shirts such as those at www.balidog.com are perfect for yoga, formfitting but flexible. Their yoga shirts, priced at $49, are made with a blend of cotton and Lycra that breathe well and are comfortable to wear, perfect for yoga.

    Bottoms

The same rules for purchasing clothing for yoga apply when shopping for the top half as well, though the needs of yoga make several options possible. For cold weather, just a pair of loose sweatpants will work great, as long as they're not so baggy they get in the way of your hands. Or, if sweats aren't for you, then track pants or any other sort of exercise pants will be appropriate, as long as they don't restrict movement.

For warmer weather, though, you'll want some shorts to help keep you from feeling too hot. The company mentioned already, Bali Dog, offers a wide selection of bottoms that are appropriate for yoga, including a pair of shorts specifically for yoga that use the same blend as the yoga top we've discussed. These shorts retail for $59 and are ideal for practicing yoga in, conforming to the body while still flexible. If those aren't your style, then flexible exercise shorts will work, with Lycra being a desirable material.

    Anything Else?

If you're wondering if you need any other clothing for yoga, all you need is a shirt and pants. You should leave jewelry and watches off while you're performing your exercises, and yoga is performed barefoot, so no shoes are needed. So, with a simple and flexible wardrobe, you should be ready to take your first steps in exploring yoga!
